Why do the weight of some candles in the same jars between your candles and other suppliers differ?

The correct weight to indicate on a candle label is in grams or ounces, and it should reflect the weight of the actual candle, excluding the container. Some candle suppliers label their candles by volume (e.g., 280 ml), whereas I label mine by weight (e.g., 240 g). Candles are poured by weight, not by volume.

I am sensitive to fragrances/have alergies. Do you make candles without fragrance oil.

Yes.  You can choose “no frangrance” from the drop down menu.

Candle Safety First

Where should I place my candle when burning it?

Always place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Never put it directly on wood, plastic, fabric, or glass that is not designed to handle heat. A coaster, tray, or plate is recommended to catch any accidental spills and protect your furniture. Keep candles away from curtains, paper, or any other flammable items.

Is it safe to leave a candle unattended?

No. Never leave a burning candle unattended — not even for a few minutes. Always extinguish your candle if you leave the room or go to sleep. Unattended candles are one of the most common causes of household fires.

Can I move my candle while it is burning?

No. The container can become extremely hot and the melted wax may spill, which can burn your skin or damage your furniture. Only move your candle once it has completely cooled and the wax has hardened.

Should I burn my candle to the very bottom?

No. Stop using the candle when about 1 cm of wax remains. Burning until the wax is gone can cause the container to overheat, crack, or damage the surface beneath it.

Wick Care & Burning Tips

How long should my wick be?
Before each burn, trim the wick down to about 5 mm. A long wick can create an oversized flame, which may lead to smoking, soot build-up, or overheating of the glass.

For how long can I burn my candle at a time?

Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours in one sitting. Burning longer may cause the container to overheat.

Why does my candle only burn a small hole around the wick?

The first burn is the most important. Allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges before extinguishing the flame, but never burn longer than 4 hours. Wax has a “memory”: if you don’t allow a full melt pool the first time, the candle may tunnel and only burn in that small circle going forward. Depending on your environment, it may take two burns to achieve a complete melt pool.

What is a melt pool?

The melt pool is the layer of melted wax that forms while the candle is burning. Reaching the edges of the container ensures your candle burns evenly and lasts longer.

Why should I use a wick trimmer and snuffer instead of scissors and blowing it out?

Wick trimmers are angled to reach inside the container and cut to the correct length. Always remove trimmed wick pieces before relighting. Blowing out a candle can cause soot to settle on the wax and container sides. A snuffer is safer and cleaner.

Fragrance & Experience

What is cold throw?

Cold throw is the fragrance you smell from the candle when it is unlit.

What is hot throw?

Hot throw is the fragrance released while the candle is burning.

Why do some candles look slightly different from others?

Each candle is hand-poured, so natural variations in colour, texture, or finish are expected. These differences do not affect performance or fragrance.

Wax melts

What are wax melts?

Wax melts are fragranced wax pieces designed to be used in a wax burner (such as an oil burner). As they melt, they release fragrance into your space. For the best effect, pair them with candles of the same fragrance.

How do i remove used wax from my burner?

Allow the wax to cool and firm up before removing. You can also place the dish in the freezer for a few minutes to make the wax pop out easily.

Cast Items & Fresheners

How do I care for cast items?

Cast items are made from white acrylic resin and should be handled gently to avoid chips or cracks. Clean with a damp cloth if needed. Avoid strong cleaning chemicals, as they may damage the finish. Cast items are not dishwasher safe.

How do I use fresheners?

Place them in drawers, cupboards, or hang them in small spaces for a gentle fragrance. When the scent fades, scratch or grate the back lightly to release more fragrance.

Every order also includes a thank-you card with care instructions for candles, wax melts, cast items, and fresheners. Please keep this card handy and read it before using your products.
